Reminiscent of the practice of South Asian women oiling and braiding their hair with jasmine, the dress is fabricated in a Tencel based textile and fastened with a detachable metal piece. The metal pieces inspired by traditional South Asian anklets are cast and plated in silver. Mashru is draped to form a cowl at the front, a deep back and slink down the wearer’s body. The piece is a commentary on how tradition and individual identity meld to form the complex reality that South Asian women exist within.
